W. Jay Nixon, MS, BCE is President of American Pest Management. He received his B.A. degree from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD in 1969 and a MS degree in Entomology from the University of Maryland in 1973 with a major emphasis in insect ecology and entered the pest control industry in June of 1973. From 1993-94 he served as President of the National Pest Control Association. He has published articles on pest management in industry journals and presented over 50 seminars around the country on various aspects of the pest control industry. In 1992 he was chosen as one of ten industry Leadership winners in the United States by Pest Control Technology magazine. Mr. Nixon has been a Board Certified Entomologist since 1973 in Urban and Industrial Entomology and is a member of the Entomological Society of America.
Since May 1998 he has served as the Contract Manager and Entomologist, U.S. Department of State, Overseas Building Operations. As part of this contract a three-day IPM seminar was developed to train Department of State personnel in the area of Integrated Pest Management. To date, Thirty one regional seminars have been presented at embassies and consulates around the world. Over 300 Department of State employees have completed the seminar.
