CUSTOMER SERVICE

American Pest

"I think that this is a fantastic service. I had a terrible infestation of mice and it was taken care of by knowledgeable, really friendly and seemingly concerned people. And the follow up was fantastic. I haven't had a single mouse problem since that time and the service people are continuing to find and treat problems. Like today there was an ant issue on the outside but it was treated and there was a yellow jacket issue that was treated as well. So I'm very satisfied and yes I would recommend it to anybody."

6 - I have children and pets. What does American Pest do to keep families safe during treatments?

American Pest takes every precaution to ensure your family is not put at risk while our technicians work inside and around your home. The customer service representatives are sure to inform you of any precautions you need to make before the technician arrives. Once inside your home, American only uses pest control products that have been tested and labeled for use by the EPA, in strict adherence to the safety and MSDS labels, which can be viewed here.  In addition, American Pest’s integrated pest management practices call for an emphasis on treating home exteriors, to prevent pest populations from entering the house. If pests have already established a presence inside the home, American’s technicians will custom-design a targeted interior protection program to be provided on an as-needed basis.

7 - I had a treatment for ants, why do I see more?

It is not uncommon when utilizing non-repellant baits for ants to see a sudden, sometimes seemingly drastic increase in the volume of ants within days of the initial treatment. Non-repellant bait materials are targeted towards interior ant infestations and are especially effective in getting rid of ant colonies. When non-repellant baits are used, the worker ants transport the active ingredient back to the colony where it is fed to other members, including juvenile ants. It is important during the initial treatment phase to allow these ants to feed on the bait material in every effort to control colony development. Back To Top >>

8 - I have had treatment for roaches, why do I see more?

There is more than one way to answer this question, but it is safe to say that whenever treating for German cockroaches, follow-up treatments will be necessary. It is also important to mention that the female German cockroach will drop her egg capsule after carrying it around for a few weeks. The egg capsule contains 30-40 ready-to-hatch roaches, just waiting for the right moment. While the first treatment is aimed at killing all adult roaches, it is common that the unhatched eggs will emerge within weeks of the initial treatment--therefore rendering a necessary follow-up treatment. To ease the process of scheduling, tell the customer service representative (CSR) if you are a new client. If you are already on service, please have your account number ready. The representative will also ask if you are a homeowner, property owner or tenant and what type of pest(s) you are interested in having eliminated. 13 - I received a reminder about my next service that told me my technician would arrive between 7am and 6pm. I can’t wait around all day for the service to be completed!

Receiving this reminder simply means we do not have your preferences for scheduling services. Contact our customer service representatives at any time at 301-891-2600 to schedule a specific time frame or even to tell them whether you prefer morning, afternoon or evening appointments. If you don’t have a preference, the 7am-6pm arrival time will remain in effect.

14 - I scheduled a service and was told that the technician would arrive within a two hour time span. What does that mean?

All residential appointments with American Pest are scheduled with a 2-hour “arrival time,” which means your technician will be at your home to begin the service within that time span. This allows our scheduling coordinators to account for traffic, weather and other unforeseeable events that could prevent our technician from traveling to your home in a timely manner. For example, if the arrival time is from 8am-10am, your American Pest technician will arrive at your home as soon as 8am, but no later than 10am. Please keep in mind that the service may not necessarily take two hours to complete, the appointment only confirms the expected time the technician will report to your property for the service.
