American Pest K-9 Bed Bug Detection Team Expands

News

American Pest is pleased to announce the addition of the newest recruits to the Bed Bug Detection Team.

Shane Lindsay has been brought on as a K-9 Handler to work with Trakker. Lindsay comes to the company after a five year career with the Marines and two deployments to Afghanistan. Lindsay specialized in the Marines as a K-9 handler with K-9 Rush.

The next new team member is Cal, a five month old English Golden Retriever. His name was derived from the founder of American, Paul Calvert Cissel. He will be paired with Krys Rackley, the company’s Lead K9 Handler and Master Trainer.

American has also acquired Terp, a six month old English-American Golden Retriever, to work with Alicia Gautille. He was named after the Maryland Terrapins.

Rackley is pleased to see the Bed Bug Detection Team expand its reach.

“It’s an honor to have Lindsay joining our K-9 Detection Team here at American Pest. He brings a great deal of knowledge and expertise to the table and I’m looking forward to seeing expediential growth in our K-9 unit. Our once small, one man team has grown to great heights, I am very excited to see the new canines and handlers grow and develop over the course of the next couple months,” said Rackley. “Great things are in the future for our program here at American Pest and I am excited to deliver such a high quality product to our customers.”

Cal and Terp have entered a six-week basic obedience training program at Warren Retrievers in Montpelier, VA. Upon their return to American Pest in mid-June, Cal and Terp will begin imprinting, or learning the odor of viable eggs and live bed bugs. You can expect to see our two new teams, Krys-Cal and Alicia-Terp,  full-fledged in the field by August of 2011.
